The Solar T2/T3 Training is a comprehensive, competency-based program designed to equip technicians and engineers with the technical knowledge and practical skills required to design, install, test, commission, and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in compliance with Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) standards.
This three-week intensive course covers both theoretical foundations and hands-on practical training. Participants are introduced to solar energy principles, basic electrical concepts, solar PV system components, system design and sizing, site survey procedures, and safety standards. The training also includes modules on policies, regulations, and quality standards governing solar installations in Kenya.
At the T2 and T3 levels, trainees gain advanced competencies in:
-
Solar PV system testing and commissioning
-
Operation and maintenance (O&M)
-
Fault diagnosis and troubleshooting
-
Solar water pumping systems
-
Solar water heating systems
The program prepares participants for professional practice in the renewable energy sector and positions them to meet licensing requirements under EPRA guidelines. Upon successful completion, trainees are better equipped to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality solar installations for residential, commercial, and institutional applications.
